Parent Information – Daily Life at the Center
General Information
Our hours of operation are from 6:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. There is an annual enrollment fee of $50.
Once enrolled, your child will have a folder that must contain:
- Signed application form
- Discipline statement (what is this)
- Feeding schedule (if your child is under 16 months of age)
- Medical report (immunizations, chronic health conditions, special needs)
- Fee schedule
For your child to continue we must have the completed medical form within 30 days of enrollment (state law). We also ask that require that you keep your child’s immunization records updated for our annual report to the state.
Drop Off/ Pick Up Policy
All children must be brought into the building by a parent or other responsible adult and signed in at the Parent Information Table in the lobby. All children should be left with a supervising adult. Car seats may be left in the mornings.
When picking up your child, please remember to sign him/her out and pick up any artwork, dirty clothes, etc. If someone else will be picking your child up please let us know in writing. We will request that they show proper ID.
Please share information about separation or divorce with us in the office. It will be kept in confidence, but we will need to know about any changes in approved pick-up people.
Sickness Policy
When your child shows signs of a contagious disease (i.e. nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or fever) we will call and ask that you pick him/her up. For the protection of all the children, your child should be kept at home until they have been free of any symptoms for 24 hours, and in the case of measles or chicken pox, until your child is no longer contagious as determined by a physician.
Medication
Medicines will be given only with written permission from a parent. Medicine is to be in its original container with an appropriate label and not out of date. It is the parent’s responsibility to take all medication out of diaper bags or backpacks and place them into locked medicine cabinet/boxes (provided by parent or daycare).
Meals / Snacks
We provide a nutritious, well-balanced lunch, a morning snack and an afternoon snack. All menus will be posted for your review.
Infants Only
Formula, juice and water must be in plastic bottles, not glass, and prepared at home. Bottles and caps must be labeled with your child’s name and the date. Please provide us with a current feeding schedule. We will post & update the schedule, as your baby’s needs change until he/she is 15 months old.
Clothing
Dress your child each day in clothes that are appropriate for outdoor play, as this is part of our daily schedule (weather permitting). If your child is potty training, please dress him/her in clothes that are easily managed by the child. Please provide your child with a change of clothes (labeled) that will be kept in his or her own cubbie. (not a word)
Comfort Toys
Children are allowed to bring their own special blanket, pacifier or stuffed animal. DO NOT allow your child to bring coins, marbles, balloons, or gum (choking hazards for all children). Children do not need to bring their toys from home, as we provide toys as part of our service, and play weapons are not allowed. We wish to foster a positive and safe environment for all the children.
Holidays / Snow Days
The center will be closed on the following holidays:
- New Years Day
- July Fourth
- Good Friday
- Labor Day
- Memorial Day
- Thanksgiving Day and Friday
- Christmas Eve: close at 1:00 pm
- Christmas Day
When a holiday falls on a Saturday, we will be closed on the preceding Friday. If it falls on a Sunday, we will be closed the following Monday.
Call First on Snow Days. We do plan to be open, but roads and inclement weather may prevent us from being open at the usual time. Call to make sure someone is here. If we need to delay opening or need to close early, the information will be on our voice mail at the Center’s phone number. (305 555 2222)
Birthdays / Parties
Birthday parties can certainly be celebrated here at the center. Make sure food is safe for the age group and please DO NOT BRING BALLOONS for safety reasons.
Holiday parties are also celebrated and parents are allowed to sign up if they wish to bring food or drinks. Healthy snacks are encouraged (such as cheese, fruit, veggies, etc.)
Parents are always welcome to participate in these types of activities.
Leaving Messages
Messages should be written as well as given verbally to ensure good communication when providing additional information to the Center. Give your child’s lead teacher the message whenever possible, as it is hard for the Director to remember everything! If you have any questions concerning our operating policies we will be glad to give you more information. Just give us a call or stop in to see us personally.
Safety of the Children is Paramount
The State of North Carolina requires that all members of childcare facilities be on the lookout for, and report to the State, any and all cases of abuse to a child.
For the safety of your children and our staff, we are a smoke-free environment.
